Each week, Amazon offers up three different featured deals. The prices on these deals are valid from Sunday through Saturday, and are usually worth talking about. There are always three different categories: television, kids and family, and Blu-ray. Here are this week’s featured deals.

“A team of special agents, operating outside the military chain of command, must investigate any crime with pieces of evidence connected to Navy and Marine Corps personnel, regardless of rank or position. Character driven stories with surprising twists play a large role in the second season of NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service). The NCIS team of investigators is led by Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), an experienced investigator with sometimes unorthodox, but always effective methods. Working under Gibbs are Special Agent Anthony Dinozzo (Michael Weatherly); Special Agent Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander); Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette); and NCIS’s medical examiner Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum). Additionally, joining the staff this season will be Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) whose communication and computer skills outweigh his naivete. Whether investigating murder or espionage, the NCIS goes global in their quest to solve all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties.” (via Amazon product description)

I’ve never been a big fan of this show myself, but my family loves it. I prefer the more “sophisticated” crime drama in Criminal Minds, but there is no denying that some of the characters in NCIS have their own unique charm. These prices are pretty good, but if you miss out on them this week, keep checking back at Best Buy because they put this series on sale often.

I will PASS on this TV deal this week.

Animaniacs_DVD_cover_by_GarlarKids & Family:

The kids and family deal this week is also a bit of a television deal, but it is a great one. You can purchase the “Steven Spielberg Presents…” versions of Pinky & The Brain and Animaniacs, two of the better cartoons from the 1990s. Each of the Animaniacs volumes contain 25 episodes (out of 99 total episodes) spread over 5 discs. The Pinky and the Brain volumes have 22, 21 and 22 episodes respectively (which is all the episodes), over four discs.

Animaniacs, Vol. 1$44.98 $19.99 (56% off)
Animaniacs, Vol. 2$44.98 $19.99 (56% off)
Animaniacs, Vol. 3$44.98 $15.00 (67% off)

Pinky and the Brain, Vol. 1$44.98 $19.99 (56% off)
Pinky and the Brain, Vol. 2$44.98 $19.99 (56% off)
Pinky and the Brain, Vol. 3$44.98 $19.73 (56% off)

We don’t often see these sets on sale, and though they are normally way overpriced, this is about right at $20 a volume. As much as I would love to buy all six of these, I don’t think it will happen. I will, however, be buying some. Chances are I will grab the first volume of both. These cartoons are just too good to pass up, for kids and adults alike.

However you cut it, this deal is a definite BUY.

Clearly the way to go here is the Blu-ray set as it is only $10 more, and has a boatload of extra features. The only reason I am reticent to call this a must-buy is because it goes on sale so very often. Chances are if you have any interest in this, you’ve probably already bought it during one of the other sales in the past. If you’ve missed out, though, this is a great, inexpensive way to catch-up on this action series.

I ended up buying the limited edition steelbook individual releases from Target a couple months ago when the fourth one released, so this deal is a PASS for me.
