Comments– Continuing with our shark theme, we rented Deep Blue Sea from Netflix. I had seen this movie a LONG time ago, but didn’t remember the majority of it. The film is about a scientific study of sharks on a self-contained, undersea lab. They end up making “smart sharks” who think and have wants and desires…that alone should tell you where this movie is heading. No doubt this film would never have been made without the likes of Jaws, but it adds in some great explosions, gory death scenes, and LL Cool J. LL Cool J never ceases to impress me in his movies, and generally has me laughing. Deep Blue Sea is not a very deep movie, but not every movie should be- especially ones about sharks, in my opinion. There are some ultra-corny lines, and some very questionable acting done at points, but overall, if you’re into shark movies, this one stands up on it’s own as a very worthwhile addition to the genre. Good.
